Job Title: Worship Pastor - Full Time
Location: Hope Community Church, Rogersville, TN

About Hope Community Church:
Hope Community Church is a vibrant, staff-led community dedicated to proclaiming and living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are committed to reaching our community with the love of Christ, fostering spiritual growth, and equipping believers to serve. We value collaboration, authenticity, and a passion for seeing lives transformed by the power of the Gospel.

Role Overview
We are seeking a Worship Pastor who is deeply passionate about the gospel and committed to cultivating a warm, participatory worship culture within our church. This role is for a pastor who plans worship with purpose—not preference—values participation over performance, and intentionally creates space for God to move and for people to respond.
The Worship Pastor provides spiritual leadership, creative direction, and pastoral care for the worship, production, and creative ministries of the church. This leader ensures that worship is biblically grounded, theologically sound, and gospel-centered, while shepherding teams with care, clarity, and humility. The role requires the ability to see the full picture of worship—music, Scripture, visuals, environment, and flow—while empowering others to lead.

A strong “we” mindset is essential. This role prioritizes developing people over building a platform, discipleship over performance, and collaboration over control. The Worship Pastor serves as an active, engaged member of the church staff, partnering with leadership to support the spiritual formation and mission of the church.

Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership & Service Design
  • Plan and lead biblical, gospel-centered worship gatherings with intentional flow, pacing, and space for response.
  • Select songs and Scripture that are theologically accurate and aligned with the church’s doctrine, chosen by purpose and season—not personal preference.
  • Create intentional moments for reflection, prayer, repentance, and congregational engagement.
  • Lead worship regularly while also empowering and rotating other worship leaders.
  • Model humility and spiritual maturity by stepping back from the platform to raise up others.

Worship Style & Musical Direction
  • Lead worship in a modern, full-band context comparable in style and excellence to Passion, Hillsong, Red Rocks Worship, and Gateway.
  • Provide musical direction that is clear, accessible, and focused on congregational participation.
  • Confidently lead and play with click tracks and multitracks while maintaining a worship-first posture.
  • Balance musical excellence with spiritual sensitivity, ensuring excellence serves worship rather than replaces it.

Team Leadership, Shepherding & Discipleship
  • Recruit, schedule, lead, and pastor a large volunteer worship ministry of 40+ musicians, vocalists, and creatives.
  • Disciple team members spiritually, helping them grow in their walk with Jesus—not just in skill.
  • Develop healthy team rotations that promote sustainability, rest, and longevity.
  • Provide encouragement, accountability, prayer, and pastoral care to team members.
  • Identify, invest in, and intentionally develop future worship leaders and team leads.
  • Foster a culture that values character, faithfulness, and teachability alongside gifting.

Worship Nights, Events & Experience Planning
  • Plan, organize, and lead worship nights and special gatherings that are music-forward and spiritually intentional.
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to execute large-scale worship events and seasonal gatherings.
  • Create teams, schedules, and rehearsal plans for special services.
  • Plan and oversee all elements of worship experiences, including countdowns, service openers, transitions, visual direction, video elements, and overall service flow.
  • Ensure every element—from music to media—works together cohesively to support the gospel and congregational engagement.

Production, A/V & Sound Leadership
  • Oversee Audio/Visual and production teams, including sound, lighting, and media.
  • Train, schedule, and develop sound and production volunteers.
  • Manage sound teams and run sound when needed for funerals, special services, and church events.
  • Ensure consistent, distraction-free audio and production quality across all gatherings.

Visuals, Stage Design & Creative Direction
  • Select and design visual backgrounds that align with worship music, Scripture, and service themes.
  • Create and oversee visual and media elements for special services and worship events.
  • Design, manage, and execute stage layouts, lighting concepts, and worship environments.
  • Lead creative planning while empowering volunteers to execute with excellence.

Rehearsals & Service Preparation
  • Lead and facilitate weekly Thursday evening rehearsals for worship and production teams.
  • Lead and facilitate Sunday morning rehearsals to ensure unity, readiness, and clarity.
  • Set clear expectations for preparation, punctuality, and participation.
  • Balance musical excellence with prayer, encouragement, and spiritual care during rehearsals.

Technical & Systems Management
  • Prepare and manage services using Planning Center, Multitracks, ProPresenter, and Ableton Live.
  • Maintain organized systems for music, charts, tracks, and media.
  • Ensure teams are equipped, prepared, and confident for each gathering.

Staff Collaboration & Church-Wide Service
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and contribute to the overall health and direction of the church.
  • Serve as a collaborative staff team member, supporting ministries outside of worship as needed.
  • Partner with church leadership to support church-wide initiatives, pastoral priorities, and events.
  • Be willing to serve in various ministry contexts, including church-wide outreach and discipleship efforts.

Additional Ministry Expectations
  • Participate in church ministries beyond Sunday services, including required involvement in Camp Hope and other designated church initiatives.
  • Support the mission and vision of the church through presence, service, and relational investment.

Qualifications & Experience
Required
  • A growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to worship ministry.
  • A pastoral heart with a deep understanding of biblical worship and theology.
  • Strong vocal ability and experience leading congregational worship.
  • Proven experience leading worship in a modern church environment.
  • Comfort leading full-band worship with click and tracks.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and disciple large volunteer teams with humility and clarity.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • A team-first, “we” mentality that values people over platform.

Preferred
  • Proficiency on one or more instruments (keys, guitar, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with Planning Center, Multitracks, ProPresenter, and Ableton Live.
  • Experience overseeing sound, lighting, and production teams.
  • Ability to balance creative vision, theological depth, and pastoral care.
